The application of a load or a corrosive condition on a material can produce internal modifications as cracks, local plastic deformations, corrosion, phase transformations, etc. which generate accoustic emission " AE " in the form of elastic waves. These waves contain information of the internal performance of material as well as the localization of the phenomenon.

Thus the AE makes it possible to detect evolutionary defects as of their appearances.
