Ultrasonic testing is based on two testing methods :

On the emission, the probe generates an ultrasonic wave by piezo-electric effect.
When the probe receives the wave, it converts the mechanical energy into an electrical signal.

They are used to inspect metallic surfaces whose thickness may vary from 0,3 mm to over one meter.
This method applies to a comprehensive range of metallic and other materials.
